With the sun shining and the temperatures warming up to the low 20s C we headed out to explore the footpaths near the children’s great-grandmother’s home. After a quick reminder to make sure we closed any farm gates we opened (and not to get too close to the cliff edge) we headed off for a ramble.
With no particular destination in mind, we thoroughly enjoyed the freedom to wander in and out of paddocks and along cliff top trails.
The children loved the adventure of choosing paths, going through ‘kissing gates’ (semi-circular gates to keep animals in a paddock) and even using wooden steps to climb over some of the barbed wire fences.
Then back for a quick lunch and off to another nearby beach.
This time we were better prepared with bathing suits, towels, and lots of toys.
Giant shovels, a badminton set, boules and frisbees made for a perfect afternoon in Wales.
For dinner we had reservations at the Sea Shanty Cafe, conveniently located right next to the beach. The food was very good, reasonably priced, and – best of all – they sold ice cream cones.

After a great meal we picked our favourite ice cream flavours and then walked along the beach to enjoy the late evening sunshine and crashing waves, marking the end of another lovely day.
